Frequently Asked Questions

Am I a good candidate for coaching?

Anyone can benefit from coaching! You will likely get the most out of it if you are naturally curious, reflective, and eager to learn and grow.

What is typical coaching session like?

During our first session, we'll talk through your biggest challenges and opportunities, and lay out some high level goals for our time together. Then at our check ins, we'll chat about your goals, challenges, and what's top of mind for you. Sometimes that might look like deconstructing and working through a difficult leadership challenge. Other times that might look like putting together a growth plan, getting advice on working through a new situation, or preparing for a difficult conversation. We'll end with "next steps" and commitments for the week ahead. I may also provide additional learning resources at times to help you on your journey.

How often will we meet?

Many coachees benefit from meeting for 1 hour every 2 weeks. This helps to create a strong sense of momentum while also providing ample time to practice new skills. However, everyone's situation is different, so we'll work together to define what makes the most sense for you.

What can I expect from you as a coach?

My top priority is to support your personal and professional growth. Since everyone's learning styles are unique, we'll work together to design a coaching approach that works best for you. Our sessions might include a mix of powerful questions, free-flowing conversation, frameworks and activities, stories from past experiences, mindful moments, and more.

What is expected of me as a coachee?

Coaching can be truly powerful when you're fully present, vulnerable, and open to taking risks. I encourage you to prepare for our sessions by turning off distractions, identifying topics to dig into, and completing any "homework" so we can make the best use of our time together. Please give me feedback if something isn't working for you – I welcome the opportunity to learn from you!

What are your coaching credentials?

I am a certified coach through Quantum Coaching, an ICF Certified Program. I continue to expand my coaching skills on a regular basis through coaching, facilitation, and communication classes.

What do past coachees have to say about coaching?

Coaching can be a life-changing experience. Here are a few testimonials from past coachees:

"Alissa is a dynamic coach who worked fluidly to help me transition into my new leadership role as a Director. Each session had impactful learnings and aha moments, which varied from how to facilitate workshops more effectively, to honing my personal vision. The learnings from that period have become a huge part of my leadership and organizational toolkit, which I still reference today. Alissa would be a wonderful coach for anyone who would like to boost their leadership and problem-solving skills!"

"Working with Alissa, I found a calm and curious partner with a rich breadth of experience and a humane sense of impact and improvement. Everytime we talk is a wonderful exercise in focus on craft and development"
